Be prepared during wildfire season

Northern Saskatchewan's Medical Health Officer is advising people to develop a personal or family preparedness plan for forest fire season.

Dr. James Irvine stated that a plan can assist families in dealing with forest fire smoke and be ready in case an evacuation is required for your community. Simple measures can go a long way to make your summer safer such as purchasing a air cleaner with HEPA filters for your home, keeping your cell phone charged, your car filled with gas, keeping enough medications on hand to last for at least 5 days and keeping a list of those essentials that you would need to take with you in the event of an evacuation.

Download a copy of this checklist at the link below, print, and put on your fridge in care of emergency.

A check list entitled "It's Wildfire Season: Be Prepared" is available online at:

www.populationhealthunit.ca/ , the Keewatin Yatthé or Mamawetan Churchill River Facebook pages, or you can download from the link at the bottom of the page. They will also be available at your local health center or municipal office. Looking through the checklist and keeping a copy of those essential reminders on your refrigerator door or in another prominent location is a good start to your summer season.
