Nahoni Tootoosis has been active in athletics for almost four years now. She was inspired to play by watching people compete in track so it motivated her to try out for the sport. She was excited when she won some medals to bring back to her home community.

Tootoosis won gold medals in high jump, long jump, the 4X100 race and the 4X400 race. She also earned two silver medals.

"I was super excited and my mom and I were jumping up and down. We were just really excited. So far, my experience has been amazing. I've met so many nice people here."

She trained herself mainly for the jumps and the races which made her a little bit nervous.

She hopes to continue her education after completing high school and make a positive impact on people.

"I want to go to university for a bit and I would like to be a teacher and I would like to continue track, though."

Her advice to the youth is to try hard for NAIG and love every moment of the experience.

"Don't be nervous and just have fun because it's such an experience that only some people are granted to have. It'll be fun."
