Damien McLaurin from Goodfish, Alberta says this is his third year playing the lacrosse sport. He says his family was his inspiration to pick up his interest in the sport.

"My uncle Kevin inspires me because I've always to play and he's been playing forever and he got his kids in it. Then one day, they got me to play and pushed me to try out for NAIG."

He said he felt really happy when he found out he made it for the lacrosse team.

"I didn't think I'd make it because I'm probably adequate, well maybe decent," he says modestly.

He practices at least four days a week by passing the ball around with his family and friends back home.

He's looking forward to gain a great experience and to have fun.

"I'm also looking forward to snag," he jokes. “But I'd like to have fun and try and win some games."

McLaurin hopes to become a pilot or a carpenter after he completes high school.

His message to the youth who want to be a part of NAIG is to work hard to make it happen.

"Don't give up, keep trying and have fun. Most importantly, work as a team."
