Two Men Charged in Homicide at Moosomin First Nation

  • EFN Staff | February 04, 2014

North Battleford Rural RCMP are investigating a homicide on the Moosomin First Nation and now two men have been charged in relation to the murder.

RCMP responded early Sunday morning to a report of an assault at a residence.

Twenty-four-year-old Bryan Darnell Blackstar died at the scene.

A number of people were at the residence where the homicide occurred, and numerous statements have been taken so far, say RCMP.

Two suspects have been identified, both of whom were known to the victim, and now 19-year-old Taryn Lee Cote from the Saulteaux First Nation and 18-year-old Troy Andrew Swiftwolfe from Moosomin First Nation have been charged with second degree murder. Both men have been remanded and will remain in custody until their next court appearance March 5.

Autopsy results are pending.
