Two people are confirmed dead in a house fire on the Ahtahkakoop First Nation.

Sixty-one-year-old Donna Kay and 10-year-old Teegan Ahenakew were located deceased at the site of the house fire.

Shellbrook RCMP was alerted to the fire on December 29. Four individuals were inside at the time, but two made it out safely.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and not believed to be suspicious.
