Canpotex has announced a donation of up to $50,000 to the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre's Milk for Children program. Canpotex made this commitment as part of Hunger Action Month, a national campaign to raise awareness and encourage Canadians to take action to address hunger in our communities.

The Canpotex donation will match donations from the community to the Milk for Children program which provides fresh milk to children and pregnant and nursing mothers.

“Food security is at the very core of what we do at Canpotex, and our action during Hunger Action Month is to support this valuable Saskatoon Food Bank program that delivers fresh milk to children and new and expectant mothers. We are proud to partner with such a worthy cause and organization,” said Ken Seitz, President and CEO of Canpotex. “We hope that our donation motivates our fellow community members to take their own action to support this important program.”

Laurie O’Connor, Executive Director, Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre adds: “This generous donation not only allows us to provide milk to children in our community, it inspires the public to take notice and really get involved. We are calling on the public to take action against hunger in our community during the month of September, and we look forward some great results from this very special campaign.”

The Milk for Children program provides one litre of milk for each child aged 17 and under and for pregnant and nursing women. This program represents a significant cost for the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre and today's donation will pay for a significant portion of the annual expense. Last year, the Milk for Children program provided approximately 97,612 litres of milk to community members.
