In their 2018-19 budget, the Saskatchewan government put a $402 million investment in mental health and addictions, an increase of almost $30 million and $467,000 of that went to 10 new treatment beds at Pine Lodge Treatment Centre.

These investments support the province's 10-year Mental Health and Addictions Action Plan.

"This investment will help Pine Lodge reduce wait times, providing people across southern Saskatchewan with better access to inpatient addictions services," said Health Minister Jim Reiter in a press release. "This aligns with our government's commitment to increase mental health and addiction supports across the Province."

Pine Lodge Treatment Centre is a community-based treatment centre which opened in 1986 that focuses on addictions treatment services.

At the time of its opening until recently they only had 23 beds but with this new expansion, they can now take 33 patients.

The beds were put into the centre in May of this year shortly after the budget was released.

“It’s going to help because what it will do is assist in the transition of clients from detox from Pine Lodge into an inpatient treatment cenre. It is also going to reduce some wait times for clients that are referred to us by different services and private practitioners,” said Foster Monson, Executive Director of Regina Recovery Homes Inc. which operates Pine Lodge Treatment Centre.
